Rescue 3 – Whitewater Rescue Technician – Pro
The Whitewater Rescue Technician – Professional course is designed for professional river users, eg raft guides, safety kayakers, with existing river experience, to provide you with the necessary skills to perform rescues in whitewater river situations. Recreational paddlers should take the Whitewater Rescue Technician – Recreational (WRT-REC) course.
- Contact hours: 24 hours (3 days)
- Prerequisites: Confident swimmer, with experience of water-based activities (eg rafting, canoeing, kayaking etc)
- Minimum age: 18
- Course standard: Rescue 3 Europe WRT-PRO standard (PDF)
The course standards are provided as pre- and post-course reference for people involved in the delivery of Rescue 3 courses (eg Rescue 3 training providers, instructors and students). They are not to be used for any other purpose without the express written permission of Rescue 3 Europe.

The assessed elements of this course are:
- Whitewater swimming techniques
- Throwbags
- Boat rescue skills
- Knots and anchor systems
- Tensioning systems and mechanical advantage
What to expect
Meeting at Parkwood Centre 09.15 each day. Finish times will vary and on one evening probably the second we will stay later finishing about 9.00.
Candidates can use their own equipment, but the centre also has everything needed as long as you let us know prior to the course. You will require a pack lunch for each day and a hot drink as we will be away from the centre all day each day. Training last for 3 years.
